In the first of three title fights at Bellator 106, Pat Curran put his featherweight championship on the line against Daniel Straus. It was a rematch that was four and a half years in the making, as Straus looked for redemption.
It was a back and forth fight in the first two rounds, but in Round 3 Pat Curran hit Straus with an illegal knee that badly injured Straus. A point was deducted from Curran, as Straus took momentum and never looked back.

In the end, the point deduction didn’t matter.
Straus went on to dominate the fight, which he won via unanimous decision – 49-45, 48-46, 48-46.
For Straus, it was a wild year. Thanks injury to a drug arrest, he had no fights in 2013 until tonight. Now, with the fight in the books, he had his hand raised as Bellator champion. It was the perfect ending to a crazy year for Straus, as he got a win that was well deserved.
Curran will now go back to the drawing board and look to work his way back to a title shot against Straus to complete the trilogy between the two fighters.
