Vincent Lecavalier injury update: Philadelphia Flyers forward to miss time

The hits just keep on coming following the Philadelphia Flyers getting blown out at the hands of the Washington Capitals. With the team down 7-0 in the third period, the Flyers initiated an all-out line brawl. The hockey gods work in mysterious ways though, and in the end it was Philadelphia who ended up losing two key players following the brawl.

Among the fallen was Vincent Lecavalier, who picked a fight with 6’0″, 190 pound Steve Oleksy. The 6’4″ 215 pound Lecavalier got his lunch served to him and will miss at least a few weeks with injures to his face.

This is particularly bad news for the Flyers since Lecavalier has been one of the few players to actually produce goals this season. He was leading the team in scoring prior to the injury despite having missed time already this season with a lower-body injury. With the way Phialdelphia has been scoring lately, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see him still in that No. 1 spot in a few weeks when he returns.

Philadelphia could also be without Steve Downie for the foreseeable future. He spent the night in the hospital after getting concussed in his fight.
