Dolphins' Jonathan Martin fears retribution from Richie Incognito

Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Jonathan Martin hasn’t rejoined his team and apparently feels uncomfortable rejoining the team according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport. Technically, Martin hasn’t accused anyone of bullying or harassment, but there is a reason for that. According to Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Martin hasn’t formally accused anyone of bullying or harassment because he fears retribution.

Ingonito has demanded that his name be cleared.

The Dolphins released a statement on the situation.

“The Miami Dolphins, including Coach Joe Philbin and Jonathan’s teammates, have been in communication with Jonathan and his family since his departure from the club and continue to be in contact. Our primary concern for Jonathan is his overall health and well-being,” the statement read.

“As an organization, we take any accusations of player misconduct seriously. The notion of bullying is based on speculation and has not been presented to us as a concern from Jonathan or anyone else internally. The reports that the NFLPA is investigating our players are inaccurate. Additionally, the NFL offered its assistance during this time, which we appreciated and gladly accepted. We will continue to make Jonathan’s health and well-being a focus as we do with all of our players.”

Icognito really does seem like he was bullied as a kid. I can imagine he was an overweight, insecure child who was picked on by his peers and pushed by his father to be the athlete that his father never was. Now, he behaves like an immature child and considers what he does to be normal. And a big thumbs down to the team members who stand by and do nothing because of some so-called team code. When your daughters end up marrying this type of jerk, you won’t feel the same way. People who rationalize bullying, in any form, need as much therapy as the bullies.
