The Miami Hurricanes lost more than their undefeated season as they were crushed 41-14 by Florida State. After being seen in a cast after the game, reports from The Associated Press and The Miami Herald are saying Miami Hurricanes running back Duke Johnson suffered a season ending broken ankle. The talented sophomore had run for 920 yards and 6 touchdowns on just 145 carries with 4 receptions for 77 yards.
The Hurricanes will need to be able to rally as they turn around and host Virginia Tech this week, who still has a chance to claim the Coastal Division, but they have to beat Miami to get there. The rest of their slate includes Duke, Virginia and Pittsburgh. Currently, the Hurricanes lead the Coastal division by one game over the Hokies and Georgia Tech, so they have a chance to be able to try to get revenge against the Seminoles in the ACC Championship if they can finish the season strong.
Not having Johnson this last stretch of games will be difficult, but they have gotten contributions from other backs like Dallas Crawford. Crawford was the engine that drove the Hurricanes to avoid an upset against the North Carolina Tar Heels earlier in the year.
