With Jameis Winston having a bit of an off night on Saturday against the Miami Hurricanes, it was up to the rest of the team to step up and help carry the team to victory and that’s exactly what they did in the 41-14 dominance of the ‘Canes this evening.
One group on this team that stepped up in a big way was the Florida State defense. They didn’t allow Miami to score a single point in the second half after giving up 14 points in the first 30 minutes.
That defensive effort, coupled with the running game stepping up on offense, did indeed lead to another overwhelming victory for Florida State. The performance was so impressive, it had the fans in attendance screaming about how much they want to play the Alabama Crimson Tide for the national championship.
After the game, one of the leaders of that defense, DT Timmy Jernigan, was asked about the fans expressing their desire for that particular match up, and Jernigan affirmatively agreed:
Asked Tim Jernigan what he thought about the “We want Bama” chant. His answer: “We do.”
