The Miami Marlins don’t have much thump in their lineup outside of Giancarlo Stanton, something they’re apparently looking to change as general manager Dan Jennings recently said that he has spoken with his scouts regarding both Will Middlebrooks and Mark Trumbo.

Dan Jennings told us they have discussed Mark Trumbo and Will Middlebrooks with their scouts…they have young pitching available

The Anaheim Angels have been rumored to be talking to teams about acquiring the powerful Trumbo in exchange for young pitching, something the Marlins organization has plenty of. As for Middlebrooks, there hasn’t been much talk about the Red Sox parting with their young third baseman, but clearly they were less than impressed with him this season given his struggles (which resulted in an extended trip to the minors) and now have an MLB-ready Xander Bogaerts who could slide to third base, if need be.

Both Anaheim and Boston would obviously love to get their hands on the aforementioned slugger Stanton, though there was no indication that the Marlins are open to parting with him in such a deal.
