Some breaking news coming across the NBA wire this Sunday afternoon – Russell Westbrook has reportedly cleared all medical and physical benchmarks in regards to his rehab and will take the court for the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight, this according to Darnell Mayberry:
R. Westbrook has passed all medical/physical benchmarks in rehab. He will play tonight
It’s pretty shocking news considering Westbrook wasn’t expected to return for another two weeks and that was in a best case scenario.
Westbrook, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery a few weeks back was expected to miss a month to a month and a half but now just weeks after undergoing the knife (the surgery was deemed relatively minor), the team has cleared him to take on the Phoenix Suns tonight in Oklahoma City.
It’s likely the team will keep Westbrook on a minute restriction for at least a few games, but just having him back on the court this early is extremely good news for the Thunder and their talented point guard.
