TCU Horned Frogs head coach Gary Patterson announced on Sunday that wide receiver Brandon Carter will be taking a leave of absence for an undisclosed amount of time. Carter didn’t play in Saturday’s 30-27 overtime loss to the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Said Patterson:

It was a personal thing. It has nothing to do with me. It had to do with him personally, off the field, and what he needed to do with his family (The Fort Worth Star-Telegram).

Carter has 17 receptions so far in 2013 and has gained 197 receiving yards. He has no receiving touchdowns, but did rush for one in TCU’s 38-17 win over Southeastern Louisiana back in September. He put up bigger numbers as a sophomore in 2012, catching 36 passes for 590 yards and six touchdowns.

The Horned Frogs, 3-6 on the year, have three games remaining this season, including an end-of-the-season contest against the Baylor Bears.
