There has been concern in Indiana that Pacers swingman Lance Stephenson may test the free agent waters at season end.
Normally for a young player, that wouldn’t be too worrisome for the team as they’d at least hold restricted rights, allowing them to match any deal the player would receive. That’s not the case for Stephenson though, who will enter free agency unrestricted and looks prime to cash in.
So where is he going to go?
No place, according to Stephenson himself who says he plans to stay with the Indiana Pacers:
“I don’t think about that,” Stephenson said after matching his regular season career high with 22 points while hitting a career-high five three-pointers in seven attempts. “It’s a long season, I’m not thinking nothing about contracts. I’m going to stay with the Pacers, so I’m not even thinking about the contract. I’m staying with the Pacers,” he said.
Of course, lots can happen between now and next July though it can only be viewed as a positive for the Pacers and their faithful that Stephenson seems determined to stay.
