Missouri Tigers QB James Franklin could play vs Kentucky Wildcats

The No. 9 Missouri Tigers are arguably the biggest surprise team this year in college football, and much of that has had to do with the play of senior quarterback James Franklin. Under his guidance, the Tigers started the season 6-0 and going 5-7 last year.

But he’s missed three starts since injuring his shoulder in a victory at Georgia. Freshman QB Matty Mauk entered that game with Missouri up by only two points and finished off a 41-26 victory. Mauk has gone 2-1 since Franklin went down, but the offense has been quite as productive without their senior leader, who may be ready to return this week against the Kentucky Wildcats:

Franklin dressed Saturday night for the first time since his injury, and in the post-game press conference Missouri coach Gary Pinkel indicated the senior could be back in the lineup Saturday.

Before his injury, Franklin had completed 132 of 195 passes for 1,577 yards with 14 touchdowns and just three interceptions. He had also rushed for 290 yards on 65 carries.
