Ravens to place LG Kelechi Osemele on IR

Looks like the Ravens 29th ranked running game may not be getting any better.

Pro Football Talk is reporting that Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that the team plans on placing starting left guard Kelechi Osemele on injured reserve.

According to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun, Osemele is facing a three-to-four month recovery for a surgery to repair his injured back.

Osemele missed last Sunday’s 24-18 loss to the Cleveland Browns with the injury. Backup guard A.Q. Shipley got the start in his place.

Losing Osemele really hurts the Ravens depth at both guard and center. Shipley and guard Jah Reid are the primary backups at both guard spots and center.

The 24-year-old Osemele started every game in regular-season and postseason over his first two years until last Sunday. Osemele was a second-round pick for the Ravens in 2012.
