McCann’s agent, B.B. Abbott, said Monday that the Bronx is “certainly a place that is on Brian’s radar. How could it not be? You’ve got an historic franchise and a great park, knowledgeable fans and a chance to win, which is what every guy plays the game for.
“From Brian’s standpoint, it would be an attractive place to listen to.”
More than that, it’s a place that could potentially give McCann that rumored $100 million dollar deal that he and his agent have been clamoring for.
Of course, with the Braves offering McCann a qualifying offer, the Yankees would have to give up a draft pick to sign McCann though that’s more of a detriment to lesser name players than one of the most valued assets on the market.
The Yankees could certainly use a more effective backstop and playing in the American League would allow McCann to move to the designated hitter spot towards the back end of his deal, if needed.
