Andre Ellington is fantasy football ‘must-play’ vs Houston Texans
By Jason Marcum
Arizona Cardinals rookie RB Andre Ellington is coming off his bye-week after his first breakout performance in Week 8 vs the Atlanta Falcons. That game saw the former Clemson Tigers great run for 154 yards on 15 carries and helped open the Cardinals’ offense in a 27-13 win over the Falcons. It was the fourth-best outing for a Cardinals rookie and was highlighted by an 80-yard TD-run.
This is now three games this season with double digits in Fantasy points for Ellington, but it was his first game with double digits in carries. It won’t be his last this year though.
Mendenhall and Ellington have both gotten plenty of carries for the Cardinals this year. Going into Sunday, Ellington had 179 rushing yards on 28 carries, plus 190 receiving yards on 20 catches. Mendenhall has just 281 rushing yards and three scores, plus 66 receiving yards.
But Mendenhall is dealing with a toe injury that kept him out of the team’s Week 8 matchup against the Falcons. This could lead to another 20-30 touch game for Ellington this week vs the Houston Texans, who have been among the league’s worst against the run since All-Pro linebacker Brian Cushing was lost for the year.
Ellington should be the starter going forward and help spark this Cardinals offense.
