You know when you attempt to do something kind – simply a nice gesture – and it goes completely wrong?
Going to suggest that’s what happened here with the Boston Red Sox organization, who purchased an ad in the St. Louis Dispatch, ‘thanking’ the Cardinals for the wonderful 2013 World Series.
The letter was finely crafted and perfectly worded, though, I’m not sure the Cardinals faithful was all that thrilled with the ‘better luck next year’ type vibe the ad gave off.
Of course, there was no ill-will meant by the a purchase. It was done with good intentions, but, to many it didn’t come across that way.
So how say you, FanSided? Fair or foul on the Red Sox? Their heart was in the right place, but if you were on the wrong end of the World Series, would you want to see something like this?
Of course, this isn’t the first time such a letter has been written as the Chicago Blackhawks purchased ad space in a local Boston paper to thank the city and the Bruins after the 2013 Stanley Cup Finals.
