On Tuesday, a report surfaced that a brawl took place in the California Golden Bears’ locker room Friday.
According to Henry K. Lee, freshman running back Fabiano Hale was hospitalized after the fight. No one would comment on who else was involved in the fight, but the parties involved know who it was.
“It was one-on-one,” university police Lt. Marc DeCoulode said. “We know who the suspect is.”
Hunter Hewitt of the San Francisco Chronicle reports the fight occurred because Hale overslept and missed workouts.
Hewitt explains “players were told to deal with Hale on their own but “leave it in the locker room” and that “Hale was later seen in the locker room and blindsided.” Hewitt also reports “Hale was taken to the hospital and for two hours no one contacted his parents” until a teammate’s family finally called Hale’s parents.
California head coach Sonny Dykes and another assistant coach did indeed go to visit Hale, but it appears the damage has been done.
The Bears will be back on the field Saturday at 3:30 pm EST when they host the Southern Cal Trojans.
