Another round of Champions League group play games are under way today. The marquee game could be the tilt between Italian side Juventus and Spanish side Real Madrid. Both teams currently sit in third place in their respective domestic leagues but their records in group play are different.
Real Madrid has won their first three Champions League games to take a dominant lead in their group with nine points. Juventus on the other hand came into this game in third place in the group with two points.
These two have met once before in this season’s Champions League tournament. Real Madrid won that match up 2-1 at the Bernabeu. This time they’re playing in Italy trying to get some points.
Madrid was down early thanks to a goal from a penalty shot. Ronaldo scored both goals in their last meeting, one of which came from the spot. Ronaldo scored early in the second half to tie the game and less than 10 minutes later Gareth Bale scored to give Madrid the lead.
Just minutes after Bale’s goal, Juventus’ Fernando Llorente scored to tie things up and they look headed towards a draw. Juventus will be happy to get any points, but they’d prefer three. This game could have an exciting finish.
