De'Anthony Thomas on Oregon vs. Stanford: 'We should at least put up 40'

Oregon Ducks running back/wide receiver/Swiss Army knife De’Anthony Thomas was recently asked if he thought the Stanford Cardinal defense could stifle the Ducks like they did in 2012.

His response: “I don’t think so. I feel like this team, we should at least put up 40″ (GoDucks.com, via CBS Sports).

Gentlemen, start your overreactions!

Of course, one could be calm and rational and note that Thomas didn’t say the Ducks will score 40, only that he thinks the team is talented enough to score that much. And one could be level-headed and note how nowhere did Thomas insult the Stanford defense. But measured reactions are for losers, so let’s indulge in a bit of…

How they hell could he say that?! What an idiot! The Cardinal were not at all excited for this game, and now they will be! I mean, sure, it’s a game that has national title and Rose Bowl implications, but those factors pale in comparison to a one sentence quotation from an opposing player. The Cardinal are TOTALLY going to be more motivated now that Thomas has provided them with insulting Bulletin Board Material. This quotation from Thomas is GUARANTEED to influence the outcome of the game!
