A former Cy Young Award winner, Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Jake Peavy has done pretty well for himself financially throughout his career. And that financial stability has given Peavy the ability to make impulse buys, like he did during the Boston Red Sox’s World Series victory parade this past weekend.

Members of the Red Sox organization were taken through the streets of Boston on a handful of different vehicles, one of which is a ‘duck boat’.

For those of you who don’t live near large bodies of water or aren’t history buffs, a duck boat, know by its proper name – DUKW – is a six-wheel-drive amphibious truck that can be used as a truck on land or as a boat on water.

Peavy, an outdoors man from Alabama had seen the boats in both San Diego and San Francisco as they’re used prior to games in both cities. They’re also used in Boston and Peavy apparently decided he wanted his own DUKW, so he bought one – at the parade – and rode around in it.
