Juventus came into this game hoping to get three points and move up the table. They came into Tuesday with two points and in third place in their group. Real Madrid entered the game having won their first three games in group play. When these teams met in October for group play in Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals to give Real Madrid the win.
On Tuesday, Madrid found themselves down in the first half after a foul in the box gave Juventus a penalty kick. Madrid’s Raphael Varane got a yellow card for his foul on Paul Pogba. Juve’s Arturo Vidal took the kick and gave Juventus a 1-0 lead heading into the break.
Seven minutes into the second half Ronaldo got into the box unmarked and got a pass and put it on goal past Gigi Buffon. Just minutes after that Gareth Bale gave Madrid the lead. He took a neat little step to the left before putting it on target in the bottom right corner.
Madrid couldn’t hold the lead, just minutes after Bale’s goal Fernando Llorente scored on a header to tie the game up.
That result would carry through to the end of the game. Juventus becomes the first team to get a point from Real Madrid in group play, but they remain unbeaten.
