Owner wants Knicks dancers to stop dancing

Cheerleaders, and to a larger extent dancers are paid for entertainment purposes. What exactly that entertainment is is subject to opinion, but most NBA teams employ a collection of talented young women to entertain fans during momentary pauses in action.

But apparently not the New York Knicks, specifically owner James Dolan who according to the New York Daily News wants the Knicks City Dancers to stop dancing.

So what does he want them to do instead? Mainly throw t-shirts into the crowd:

Dolan has become such a hands-on owner — figuratively speaking — that, according to a source, he doesn’t want the dancers dancing. Crazy, right? The same guy who wanted creative input on the dancers’ outfits (and he’s good at it) apparently ordered that the girls’ roles be reduced to mostly throwing T-shirts into the crowd. They performed maybe one routine on Sunday.

This of course is the same Dolan who not that long ago felt he needed to be hands on in helping design the outfits of the City Dancers, so why the quick change of heart? Doesn’t seem like anybody knows other than Dolan himself.
