Although it may not seem possible, the developing situation between suspended OT Richie Incognito, Jonathan Martin and the Miami Dolphins may be headed to a whole other, scary level.
According to a report from the Sun-Sentinel, sources have told the news outlet that, although the action’s of Incognito are inexcusable to begin with, some of his actions may have been the result of him taking orders from the coaching staff a little too far.
The report went on to explain that after Martin missed a voluntary workout last spring, the coaching staff directed their leader (I’m using this term loosely) of their offensive line to “toughen” his teammate up.
All of this reportedly took place after Martin missed two straight sessions and was encouraged by the coaches to make a phone call that would “get him on the field.”
If this is indeed true, the Dolphins coaching staff will come under heavy scrutiny as the investigation into the incident continues to develop.
Incognito was recently indefinitely suspended by the Dolphins for racially-charged, threatening voicemails he left with Martin, prompting his teammate to abruptly leave the organization mid-season.
