Report: Texas Longhorns hire Arizona State's Steve Patterson as new Athletic Director

According to a report from SI.com, the Texas Longhorns have found their new athletic director, and it’s indeed current Arizona State athletic director, Steve Patterson.

Early on Tuesday morning, reports began to surface that the Longhorns’ interest in Patterson was very high and that they had a conversation with him recently that left them coveting the man in Tempe.

Well, it appears that they have their man.

“It’s done,” said the Texas official.

Patterson will be taking over for DeLoss Dodds, who announced earlier this year that he would be stepping down from one of the most prominent positions in college athletics. Since that announcement, the potential names have been running rampant, including West Virginia AD Oliver Luck who was recently thought as the overwhelming favorite.

He may have been, but Patterson stole that away and will now be the man running the show in Austin.

So, let the rumors about what’s going to happen to head football coach Mack Brown following the season begin.

Oh yeah, and the Todd Graham to Texas rumors as well.
