Former NBA big man Chris Webber, who now moonlights as an analyst for both TNT and NBAtv made some waves last night when he suggested that Los Angeles Lakers big man Pau Gasol isn’t an elite NBA player.

No he’s not a elite player- elite players get- Buckets-assist -rebounds 10 pts- 8 Rebs- no offensive boards- you are not a elite big man!

GASOL

Webber, a five-time NBA All-Star and former NBA Rookie of the Year award winner would know a thing or two about being a high-level power forward in the NBA, though, many would also point out that he couldn’t get the job done when it counted and that his opinion is less respected than others because of that.

Statistically, for their careers, Webber did average a few more points and about an assist and rebound more, though C-Webb’s best season was vastly better than any season during Gasol’s career.

So does Webber have a point? Is Gasol not an elite NBA player? The definition of elite is up to interpretation, so it’s a difficult question to ask, but seems a bit odd for Webber to randomly call him out.
