If you ever dreamed of having glow-in-the-dark ice cream, Charlie Francis, founder of Lick Me I’m Delicious Ice Cream, has got you covered. Francis discovered that scientists were able to synthesize the luminescence protein from jellyfish, which makes the ice cream glow.
The glowing is triggered by your tongue, and you can enhance the light with more and more licks.
The specially extracted proteins interact with pH levels on the human tongue so the ice cream radiates light when licked. And the more you lick it, the brighter it gets.
Unfortunately, if you want to try out the ice cream, you will need to have a deep wallet.
The unique ice cream costs $225 a scoop.
Francis knew the price tag would scare some people off, so he has also created a non-jellyfish batch of gin & tonic sorbet that can provide the same glow at a much cheaper price.
To keep up with his innovative desserts, Francis has also announced plans to create an invisible ice cream. How that is possible remains to be seen, and it never will be, but it will surely be something that people will be interested in learning more about.
