Jarrod Saltalamacchia is 'willing to go to whoever offers the most security'

Well the World Series champion Boston Red Sox decided not to throw a qualifying offer in the direction of catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia which makes him a free agent.

Now you would have to think that teams like the Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies could be interested in bringing in the World Series winning catcher.

Right now it seems like Brian McCann will be getting more attention than he will to start off, at least until McCann signs. Saltalamacchia may not wait until McCann signs with a new team, so he may end up accepting the first offer that comes across his path depending on the security.

Could teams who find McCann overpriced, turn to a guy like ‘Salty’ who will obviously come  a lot cheaper but could give them their money’s worth?

This season with the Red Sox, Saltalamacchia hit 14 home runs, driving in 65 runs with a batting line of .273/.338/.466, which is a tad better than McCann’s  .256/336/.451.

The hunt for a new home between Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Brian McCann may not last as long as we think. I expect both men to be signed within the first two weeks, maybe three after the market opens up.
