As a result of the harassment and bullying from fellow offensive lineman Richie Incognito, Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Jonathan Martin checked himself in to a Miami hospital for emotional distress. Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin visited Martin in the hospital and the team paid for Martin’s parents to join him, according to ESPN.

The treatment that Martin received was not passed along in the report.

Martin has since left the hospital and returned home to California, where he is cooperating with the NFL in their investigation in to the situation.

ESPN added that Martin is “preparing a detailed document for his cooperation with a league investigation into a string of alleged multiple incidents he says led to his emotional distress and exit from the team.”

Incognito has been suspended indefinitely for his role in the situation, while Martin continues to think about whether or not he will return to the team.

Considering the way things went down and how the Dolphins reportedly encouraged Incognito to “toughen up” Martin, you couldn’t criticize him if he doesn’t want to rejoin the organization.
