Ulysses Gomez could be Cage Warriors champion

The last 22 months have not been kind to Ulysses Gomez.

The California fighter has suffered back-t0-back losses to John Moraga in 2012 and Phil Harris back in February. After the loss to Harris, Gomez was released by the UFC.

Howevever Gomez seems to have been a chance to get his career back on track. He is scheduled to face Neil Seery for the Cage Warriors Flyweight championship at Cage Warriors 62, Dec. 7.

Prior to the losses to Moraga and Harris, Gomez had won seven of eight fights. He is a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and has won most of his fights by submission. He is also a former Tachi Palace Fights Flyweight and Bantamweight champion. However Seery will not be an easy challenge. He is currently on a four-fight winning streak. He has 13 wins in his career with 11 of them being finishes.

I think Seery has the edge when it comes to striking as he has six wins by knockout. With 12 submissions between the two of them, this could be a good fight on the ground.

If Gomez wins the title, it will be the start of a successful run in the Cage Warriors promotion.
