Following the team’s Week 9 bye, New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz is still not ready to return to practice. Cruz suffered a stinger during the team’s Week 8 match up and he is still dealing with the issue. Jordan Raanan of NJ.com passed along the news that Cruz would be absent from the team’s Wednesday practice.

“I wouldn’t call it a setback, but obviously it’s an issue,” head coach Tom Coughlin said.

The team has said that Cruz’s absence was precautionary, so he should still be available for the Giants in Week 10 against the Oakland Raiders.

If Cruz is unable to go, Rueben Randle will get the start at wide receiver.

The Giants are hoping to make a run during the second half of the season to get back in the playoff picture. In order to do that, they will need Cruz to be healthy and help the offense put up points.

New York has a long way to go to reach the success they are hoping for, but they aren’t dead yet.
