David Ortiz receives most write-in votes in Boston's mayoral election

If David Ortiz had actually run for mayor, he probably would have won, right?

Without doing a thing other than leading the Boston Red Sox to a World Series championship (which apparently counts for quite a bit), Ortiz received 560 write-in votes in the city’s mayoral election this week, giving him the most write-in votes of anyone in the race.

Of course, he still fell 71,954 votes short of defeating the mayor-elect Marty Walsh, but there’s no denying that the people of Boston have a thirst to be led by one of the best designated hitters in the game, to have his on-field talents transfer seamlessly into public office.

Or something like that.
