Dwight Howard is one of the strongest players in the NBA. He is in exceptional shape, and he could probably be considered one of the best athletes in sports. That said, he wouldn’t last a round in the UFC. When he was backstage at a UFC even in Houston, he alluded to the fact that he’d be interested in trying–for a small fee:
“I would get up there and fight. If I get knocked out, I get knocked out,” Howard said. “I’ll get back up one day.”
(UFC president Dana) White immediately interjected. “I want to do that pay-per-view when you’re ready, man,” he said.
Howard apparently said he would do it for 10 million dollars. If he got that money, I have no doubt that they would make more than that on the event. The fighters who make a living fighting in the UFC are trained for most of their life to fight, and they would destroy Howard. People assume that fighting is just a bunch of guys who kick and punch, but there is a specific skill and strategy to it.
I’m sure Kobe Bryant is writing a check as we speak.
