Jets Mike Goodson indicted on weapons charges
By Peter Smith
Stemming from an arrest that occured on May 17th, the Morris County Prosecutor’s office has announced in a press release that the New York Jets running back Mike Goodson has been indicted. The arrest that occurred in May when a tow truck driver found Goodson and another man in a car with marijuana, an unlicensed handgun and hollow point bullets. Goodson was ultimately charged with second degree unlawful possession of a weapon and fourth degree prohibited weapons and devices. The investigation went to the grand jury and the findings were released at the end of October, so this was the next natural step in this process.
Currently, Goodson is working to recover from a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee that he suffered in a 19-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers that occurred in October. With the four game suspension he had due to the arrest, Goodson’s season only lasted two weeks. Goodson played well in the time he was able, but obviously this was not what the Jets had in mind when they signed him to a 3-year, $6.9 million contract in the offseason. The future of Goodson is up in the air at this point given his injury situation and the arrest still pending.
