After being away from mixed martial arts to focus on kickboxing, Siala-Mou Siliga, known to fans as “Mighty Mo,” made his return to the sport in September.
During his time away from MMA, Mo accumulated a 1-8 record in kickboxing. So when it was announced he would be fighting in the Bellator cage, there probably some fans and critics who were skeptical about seeing Siliga in compete in the cage.
Yet Siliga silenced most of his critics when he fought and defeated the previously unbeaten Dan Charles by TKO in the third-round at Bellator 100. Mighty Mo’s next opponent was Bellator cage veteran Ron “The Monster” Sparks. In the second round, Siliga would secure a keylock and forced Sparks to tap.
By extending his Bellator record to 2-0, Mighty Mo has not only shown fans that he has what it takes to make a successful comeback, but also has done enough to qualify to fight in the next Bellator Heavyweight tournament.
In addition to his good striking, Siliga has shown improvements in his takedown defense. He would be a good match for any fighter Bellator puts him up against.
Bellator is currently hosting a heavyweight tournament for their ninth season. UFC veteran Cheick Kongo and K-1 Peter Graham will square off in the finals of the season nine tournament at Bellator 107. Graham is substituting for Vinicius Queiroz, who had to pull out of the finals due to injury.
There is no word if Bellator will hold a heavyweight tournament for Season 10, but if they do, they should consider having Mighty Mo as one of the particpants.
