Prior to the opening of the 2013-14 college basketball season, Louisville Cardinals power forward Chane Behanan was indefinitely suspended and was no longer even living in the dorms the basketball players reside in. Head Coach Rick Pitino made it sound as though Behanon may not return at all this year, but as it turns out, he’s now back practicing with the team:
“We said he had to go 30 days straight with no mess-ups before he could practice and he’s done that,” Pitino said. “I didn’t think he could do the right thing for 30 days in a row — getting up, coming over here at 6:45 in the morning, meeting curfew at night, getting through tutoring all day. I was a doubting Thomas, to say the least, but he’s done all the right things.”
Behanan, a junior, averaged 9.8 points and 6.5 rebounds last season, helping the Cardinals win the NCAA National Championship. Behanan also served a suspension at the beginning of last season.
Louisville opens its season on Saturday against College of Charleston.
