Friday night brought upon the long-awaited collegiate debut of Kansas Jayhawks prized freshman recruit, Andrew Wiggins.
This was probably the most anticipated college debuts in recent memory, as we’ve had to live with the hype of the young man that’s considered to be the next great basketball star for the last few years.
Wiggins made that debut against Louisiana-Monroe Friday, and while he didn’t set the world on fire, he was still quite effective in helping Kansas take care of the Warhawks, 80-63.
The Canada native finished his first game with 16 points on five-of-nine shooting from the field and four-of-six from the line. He also knocked down two three-pointers in four attempts.
While, no, he didn’t light it up like some may have been looking for, this is only the beginning for what everyone believes to be one of the more stellar freshman seasons in quite some time.
With that being said, all eyes will now turn to Tuesday night when Wiggins and Kansas will take on the Duke Blue Devils in their first tough test of the year for the team, and their star.
