In an attempt to help get them back on the map for the right reasons, Penn State attempted to hire former U.S. Secretary of State Condolleezza Rice to be their University President.  In an article written by Susan Snyder of the Philadelphia Inqurier (Can be found here), the Nittany Lions reached out to famed Stanford Alum and was politely rejected.

While officials at Penn State have refused to comment on the situation, only mentioning that the search is confidential, Rice’s chief of staff confirmed an offer was made.  Rice will continue her role as a Stanford alumna as well as her role on the College Football Playoff Committee which has been selected and will begin their work next season in selecting a four team playoff as well as a few other bowl participants.

The belief is that between this news and some other issues with another candidate, Penn State is back to the drawing board in their search for their next university president.  The deadline to find a new president is set at June 30th, 2014.
