At times of tragedy, athletes often look to the playing field for an escape and a way to channel their energy away from the grief they are feeling. For Mississippi State Bulldogs quarterback Dak Prescott, that is exactly what he will be doing on Saturday when he takes the field against the Texas A&M Aggies.
Earlier in the week, Prescott’s mother, Peggy Prescott, lost her long battle with colon cancer and passed away.
There were some questions about whether or not Dak would take the field this weekend as he deals with her death, but Bulldogs head coach Dan Mullen confirmed on his radio show that Prescott will play on Saturday against the Aggies. He returned to practice on Wednesday.
There is still no announcement on whether Prescott or Tyler Russell will get the start against Texas A&M, but we should get an answer soon.
Prescott should be the favorite to earn the start if he is ready to go, considering he has started the previous two games for Mississippi State.
