There is some resurgence in Roger Federer after all. After what was looking like a bleak end to the 2013 season, Roger Federer started picking up his game during the ATP World Tour Finals, starting with a win against Richard Gasquet earlier in the week.
He seems as though he has escalated his game play yet again, as he was able to beat Juan Martin del Potro and advance to the semifinals of the tournament. The final score of the match was 4-6, 7-6 (2), 7-5 , in favor of Federer.
From an article by the Associated press, found here on ESPN,
Federer will face top-ranked Rafael Nadal on Sunday, and Novak Djokovic will take on newcomer Stanislas Wawrinka in the other semifinal at the year-end tournament.
Federer and del Potro needed a win in their final round-robin match to advance from Group B.
Only once in 12 appearances has Federer failed to reach the final four. The 17-time Grand Slam winner has struggled this season, and the event featuring the top eight players is his last chance to win a big title in 2013.
It will be interesting to see how the tournament will go as we approach the semifinals. Who do you think will advance to the finals? Sound off in the comments below.
