J.R. Smith to make season debut for New York Knicks

The New York Knicks may be without big man Tyson Chandler for the next four to six weeks, but they’ll at least have gunner J.R. Smith who is set to make his season debut Sunday against the San Antonio Spurs.

What? Not overly excited about that, Knicks fans? Don’t blame you, though, Smith should bring a bit more entertainment to games – along with poor shot selection.

Smith is expected to come off the bench, this according to head coach Mike Woodson:

#Knicks head coach Mike Woodson says JR Smith will come off the bench against the Spurs. Same starters as last night.

The three point happy swingman of course was forced to miss the first five games of the season after his suspension for violating the terms of the league’s anti-drug program.

It’s likely that Smith will find himself inserted into the starting lineup in the near future, though in the meantime, Iman Shumpert will continue to hold down the starting duties.
