Roger Federer will be the underdog when he faces Rafael Nadal at the ATP World Tour Finals on Sunday, but the 32-year-old Swiss player isn’t fazed about not being the favorite.
Federer, who is battling through one of the worst seasons in his professional career, spoke with reporters about the highly anticipated matchup:
I just have to have the right mindset to give it one last go, maybe play with a little less pressure than I have in previous matches with him. I just feel like I need to look at it more as being an underdog a little bit because of circumstances, because of my year, because of his year. Maybe that free swinging is what I kind of need to do a little bit more tomorrow (Reuters).
If Federer is able to beat Nadal in the semi-finals and then top either Novak Djokovic or Stanislas Wawrinka in the finals, it would mark the seventh time he (Federer) has won the prestigious ATP event.
