San Francisco Giants 'well-positioned' to sign Bronson Arroyo?

The San Francisco Giants recently decided to not exercise their team option on Ryan Vogelsong, giving them two option rotation spots behind Madison Bumgarner, Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum.

One of those could be filled by free agent Bronson Arroyo, as ESPN’s Buster Olney reports the Giants are ‘well-positioned’ to sign the former Cincinnati Reds pitcher:

Depending on how the offers develop from other teams, the Giants are well-positioned in the bidding for Bronson Arroyo.

The Giants’ front office has all but suggested they won’t sign any player who was given a qualifying offer by opposing teams as they aren’t interested in losing their draft pick, though, Arroyo was not given such an offer by the Reds. That should make Arroyo one of the more desired commodities in the free agent pool this offseason, though given the Giants’ recent winning ways and favorable home park to pitching, Arroyo may be interested in pitching for the Giants.

Arroyo has suggested he’d like to pitch on the East Coast, but money and a pitchers park may be enough to sway him.
