The Tennessee Volunteers are trying to pull off another huge victory today against the 8-1 Auburn Tigers at home in Neyland Stadium.
Already having defeated South Carolina this season, a win today at home would be another huge feather in the cap of first-year head coach Butch Jones as he tried to build this program back up to the prominent position it once enjoyed.
They’ve certainly gotten off to a good start today in doing that.
Early on in the second quarter, the game was all tied up at six as the Vols were hanging in there with the Top-10 ranked Tigers. Tennessee had the ball 17 yards from the end zone, when running back Rajon Neal took a hand off to the left side and wouldn’t be denied until he crossed the goal line:
That score gave the Volunteers the 13-6 lead following the extra point, however, Auburn punched right back when RB Tre Mason scored on a run to tie it all up at 13, where it stands now.
But, more of this type of play from the Vols, and the Tigers may be in trouble.
