Last year the Texas Rangers played the San Diego Padres in a pair of games in the Alamodome in San Antonio. It was the first baseball game ever played in the 20-year history of the Alamodome. The Rangers-Padres series drew over 75,000 fans.

In 2014, the Texas Rangers will play the Houston Astros in the Alamodome in a pair of exhibition games. The games will take place on Friday, March 28, and Saturday, March 29.

“The Rangers are very happy to be returning to San Antonio and Big League Weekend in 2014,” said Rangers GM and president of baseball operations Jon Daniels. “Ryan-Sanders Baseball put on a first-class event in 2013 and did an amazing job in converting the Alamodome into a major league baseball facility.”

The Ryan in Ryan-Sanders is former Texas Rangers CEO Nolan Ryan. He resigned as CEO in a press conference in October amid a power struggle with Daniels, though both were adamant that they remain cordial and on good terms.

The game could draw larger crowds and more interest since it involves two Texas teams.
