The Texas Tech Red Raiders looked like one of the best teams in college football over the first two months of the 2013 college football season. They got off to a 7-0 start and looked poised to challenge the likes of the Baylor Bears and the Oklahoma Sooners for the Big 12 championship.
But over the past month, the Red Raiders have lost three straight games, and their latest one was the worst of them all. They lost at home in blowout fashion to the Kansas State Wildcats, 49-26, and the only thing that may have been more embarrassing than their overall effort was the play of freshman quarterback Baker Mayfield.
Mayfield, who came in for starter Davis Webb late in the second quarter, was 34 for 44 for 276 yards and two interceptions, but it was one interception in particullar that was extemrely embarrassing as he wanted no part of making the tackle:
You have to love the non-effort put in by Baker Mayfield on KSU’s pick-6. While wearing a “NEVER QUIT” jersey.
