The USC Trojans are currently proving once again that they’re not the sub-par team that everyone thought they were earlier in the season by destroying the Cal Golden Bears in the first half, 41-14.
Since interim coach Ed Orgeron took over following the firing of Lane Kiffin, this team has looked like the squad most of us thought we’d see coming into the season.
They’re beginning to look like USC again, basically.
In the rout today, they’re beating the Golden Bears down in every facet of the game, especially on special teams. And, the star of that show has been WR Nelson Agholor.
Agholor has been obliterating the Bears on punt returns. Early in the first quarter, he fielded a punt and took it 75 yards to the house for a score, making it 7-0 at the time.
That was when the game seemed within reach for Cal.
The second punt return of the day for Agholor came with about three minutes to go in the half, and was basically the nail in the coffin.
