These two teams come into this La Liga match in the middle of the table. Espanyol sits in 11th place with 15 points, while Sevilla sit in 14th place with 13 points. Espanyol has been struggling lately and lost to Barcelona last weekend.
“Over a season you go through different spells and right now we’re in a bad spell,” Espanyol full-back Javi Lopez said, via ESPN FC, “But against Barcelona we put in a spirited performance, and that’s what we’ll do against Sevilla from the start. The team are playing well, even though results haven’t been going our way.”
“This game is the most important of the season, not just because the next game is always the most important – it is vital,” added Lopez. “If things go well for us we’ll take a huge step up in the league table.”
If Espanyol beats Sevilla on Sunday they can move up considerably in the table. They could move all the way to 7th place with three points.
