JaVale McGee suffers stress fracture, out indefinitely

Just a few nights ago, Denver Nuggets head coach Brian Shaw said he planned to make some lineup changes if players didn’t give maximum effort.

Shaw’s going to have to do just that, though, it’s not due to effort as big man JaVale McGee suffered a stress fracture in his left tibia:

There’s currently no timetable for McGee’s return, though, he should be out for a considerable length considering the nature of his injury.

The most likely candidate to take over McGee’s minutes would be J.J. Hickson, though, whomever takes over, the Nuggets will be losing a lot of size/athletic ability in the middle.

Of course, considering the strange rotations/minutes McGee has been playing this year, the loss shouldn’t be completely devastating in the short term, though it should be interesting to see how it alters the Nuggets long term.

The Nuggets and doctors will continue to run tests on McGee before determining a return date.
