Ryan Getzlaf injury update: Anaheim Ducks forward won’t play against Vancouver Canucks

Ryan Getzlaf injury update

The Anaheim Ducks have announced that Ryan Getzlaf is injured and will not take part in tonight’s contest against the Vancouver Canucks. This is an incredibly important matchup for two teams that are locked in the dead heat that the Pacific Division has become, so it must be at least mildly serious. Odds seem good that he’d play if  he could.

Oddly, it’s believed that he sustained the injury prior to Anaheim’s game against the Buffalo Sabres on Friday. Getzlaf played in that game and scored his first-career hat trick as the Ducks pounded the Sabres via a 6-2 final.

The injury is quite the break for the Canucks—as they’re trying to catch the Ducks—who currently sit atop of the Pacific. Getzlaf has been an absolute monster this year while playing on a throwback line with Corey Perry and Dustin Penner. He  has 10 goals and 22 points, which is good for third overall in league scoring.

Anaheim will have their depth tested tonight, as the Canucks have really been playing some outstanding hockey over the last few weeks.
