Senators spoil Peter Horachek’s coaching debut with Panthers

Peter Horachek’s first game as head coach of the Florida Panthers certainly didn’t go as planned. Every coach who makes their debut wants a win, however, that’s not how it went down in Ottawa last night. The Senators came away with the victory, 3-2 over the Panthers.

From an article by the Associated Press, found here on Sports Illustrated,

Horachek’s debut as the Panthers’ coach.

Horachek was promoted from Florida’s American Hockey League affiliate in San Antonio on Friday after the club fired Kevin Dineen and assistants Gord Murphy and Craig Ramsay.

” What you hopefully are going to create is an attitude about work,” Horachek said. ” When there are changes, people hesitate.

” You know, they’re not playing the way they need to, just reacting instead of thinking, and so you add a little bit each time and hopefully you’re going to continue that and get them to a place where the work is fun and the work is solid and consistent.”

I’m sure the Panthers will get their first win under Horachek soon enough, although, finding wins has been hard for the team. Florida is currently 3-10-4 on the season, and they could very well keep up their losing ways.

What do you think? Will the Panthers get their first win with Horachek soon, or will it come a week from now, or even later?
