The wonderful people at BBC have given Whovians something else to drool over while we wait for the 50th Anniversary Special of the longtime sci-fi series Doctor Who to arrive. They have released a newer, and longer, trailer for the anniversary episode entitled ‘The Day of the Doctor.’
In all of his years travelling through the whole of time and space, the Doctor has met many new civilizations, stopped wars, and stopped countries from falling down the rabbit whole to certain death. Out of all the fights that he has encountered, and ended, throughout time, there is one life that he has been running from; his own.
In The Day of the Doctor he will be forced to confront himself, as the Eleventh Doctor, played by Matt Smith, is going to be visited by not one, but two different incantations of his former self; the Tenth Doctor portrayed by the brilliant David Tennant, and a previously unseen incantation of the Doctor played by John Hurt.
The Day of the Doctor will mark the return of a very old enemy of the Doctor’s, as well as the return of his greatest enemy. First we will see the return of the Zygons, an alien race with shape shifting abilities that were first seen in the episode ‘Terror of the Zygons’ in 1975.
The episode will also feature the return of the Daleks; the Doctor’s biggest, and most storied rival. It is thanks to the Daleks that every time I hear the word ‘exterminate’, I can’t help but hear it in my head in a robotic voice.
Here is a look at the newer, and longer, trailer for the upcoming 50th Anniversary Special of Doctor Who entitled “The Day of the Doctor.”
