The New York Giants have been struggling to get some consistency at running back and have relied on a variety of backs at different points in the season. The got running back Andre Brown back from an injury and he carried the load for the Giants in their win on Sunday over the Oakland Raiders.
His 30 carry, 115 yard performance was huge for a team struggling on the ground and his teammates and coach noticed.
“For him coming back this season and getting hurt, it was tough,” said guard David Diehl, via the New York Daily News. “You could see how much it hurt him. I mean, talk about a guy that’s mentally tough and strong and can fight back. He gave us a huge boost today. It was awesome.”
“I don’t think there’s any doubt this is very rewarding and very satisfying,” head coach Tom Coughlin added. “Perseverance does pay off. And he’s a guy who has persevered.”
“Thank God we have him back,” said safety Antrel Rolle. “He’s a workhorse. You ask him, would he rather have it any other way? He wouldn’t. That’s Andre Brown.”
